Chiesa Parrocchiale San Matteo

Before painting this, I spent an hour studying some landscape paintings by Polenov and I noticed how loose he was painting. He had very precise tone and beautiful color but the brushstrokes were almost slapped on in relatively the right place. And it worked incredibly. So I went out with this intention and while my work is nowhere near the level of Polenov, I felt like I learned a new way to describe a subject with looser brushwork but more attention to the composition.
